see amid the winters snow

Sorry it's been so long, but once it was sorted out there was christmas to enjoy.

We were soon attacked by the source of the trouble. A sneasel, that had clearly inherited Avalanche.
'Ok, Dark and Ice.....Ah! Don, get Hitmonchan to use Mach punch! Should be a times 4!'
'Err, ok. Hitmonchan, what he said.'
'Chaaaaan!'
'Rattata, flame wheel!'
'Ratatatatatatatataaaaaaaaaa'
'Every little helps I suppose. Onix, Rock tomb!'
'Oooooooooooooooooooor!'
Butterfree's strongest move at the time was psychic type, so he stayed back. In his Pokéball in fact. A couple more mach punches and flamewheels, and sneasel looked weak. He was really string! Took quite a few X4 attacks and kept standing! Until Glaceon tackled it to the floor that is. Just stood over it and growled. Leapt back from a fury swipes with a whimper, then pounced again. I grabbed an arm as it went to swipe again, and Glaceon seemed to smile. We were stuck there as long as it struggled though. Then there was a weird glow from the cave-in. A red glow, getting bigger and bigger, as if it was getting closer. Then there was a cracking sound of ice breaking apart, and loads of steam. Through I saw two silhouettes.
'Guess who's ember just got stronger!'
'Ragnarok!'
He walked out of the cloud of steam, a charmeleon at his side. 'He evolved to make it more powerful, to get us out.'
He hugged Charmeleon, and looked at us. 'Ah, culprit? Stand back.'
'We can't. He's fast.'
Sneasel lifted it's head to look at Rag and his Pokémon. Seeing this. Glaceon headbutted it. Sneasel's lay back looking dazed.
'That'll work. Be quick, we can't leave him for long.'
'Ember and Metal Claw, Charmeleon!'
'Chaaaaaaaaar, Char!'
He covered Sneasel in flames, and as they started to recede, plunged claws deep in it's chest. He didn't stab it, but it looked painful. Sneasel just lay there.
'Anyone want a sneasel?'
None of us did, so we left him. As we were walking away, I saw a figure in a long coat and wide brimmed hat watching us. He turned away and walked off as soon as he noticed me looking. Great. More mysteries. Ah well.

Christmas was good, most eventful being giving a friend from Uni a Pokémon for a present. She's always loved Pokémon, it turns out, so seemed like fun. There still aren't many around, but I found one I think she'll like. She's not so keen on the later generations, so it was a bit harder, but turns out I chose well. More on her later.

Oh, and if I haven't mentioned already, I've befriended a Porygon that's now living in my Mac. Haven't caught him yet, haven't really needed to.

Not a Winter Wonderland!

The snow is awesome, but it's getting a bit much. There's loads. It's causing some problems. There was an Avalanche yesterday, and now Rag's trapped. He was investigating a new cave that had appeared recently, and there was this roar and the entrance vanished in a wave of snow. We're trying all we can, but it froze, and we can't get through. Rattata's flame wheel dents it, but not enough, and Hitmonchan is punching away but he's not getting very far. He needs to train more. I just hope he's ok.....

Babies it's cold outside!

The babies in question are Pichu and Happiny. They aren't happy about how protective Jonny and Ragnarok are being. They want to play, but outside is nothing but frost and ice. Butterfree's not happy either. Ice is supereffective against both bug and flying. Rattata's coping well, but uses flamewheel quite a lot. Glaceon is of course living it, as is snover. This of course means a lot of ice pokémon have been coming through the waves. My lecturers have been fairly understanding, especially the one that Muk kidnapped. They let me run off whenever I have to, Poképals at my side.

That's all for now, just realised I hadn't done one of these for ages, so I thought I'd make sure you were still in the loop. Bye!

A few important updates.

Finally, I'm getting back to you on what's been going on. A lot, basically, so I'll give you some highlights and the important stuff.
Firstly,it's not just cambridge that's colliding. It's been spreading. I know there was the time at the Eden project, but I figured that was because that's where I (and therefore the shard) was, but no. The cracks between our universes have been spreading all over the country, and yesterday there was an emergency in france, so I'm guessing it'll be global soon.
Well, I suppose most importantly, we're up to 14%. As you can probably guess, it's become impossible to hide. Luckily, that's no longer an issue. I'll explain.
The three orbs above one of the universe keep quivering on the screen now. It's getting quite worrying. I've got a pretty good theory about them though.
Rattata and Charmander are now level 25. (Yep, he's still a charmander )
Hitmonchan has grown to level 20, and Don actually had a pretty good fight with a wild geodude that came through after a burst. He's really getting the hang of this. I'm so proud. :D
Happiny is blooming at level 10. Still very happy, very strong, and very protective. So cute.

Those are our main mons, the others are all doing well too. We have more monster friends now, too.

So, a couple of weeks ago, Joey arrived in our world. I'm sure you'll remember him, the little kid that won't shut up about his rattata. Now he's met mine. Three words. Flame. Wheel. Booyah.
Yeah he was rubbish. I could have sworn I heard someone mutter 'Pathetic' at the end of the alley and wander off, but I didn't see who. Sounds familiar somehow though.
Rag has a Snover now. last week, it got really cold, and we were in a grassy area, when a wave came on. As I staggered to my feet. I noticed Rag battling a snover that had come through. He caught it, and it's a happy and playful new member of the team. Don met someone at Uni, that said he was 'investigating strange occurrences' in the area. Don helped him out, and was given an egg for his efforts. It hasn't hatched yet.

Oh yeah, now, when any of us goes to a bed, ours, one in a bedstore, any bed at all, we can hear a really faint 'doo doo, doodoodoo' noise, and our pokés feel much better. Cool or what? Oh, and our little shop down the road has changed. Inside it's really flat looking, brightly coloured, and I'm pretty sure it's actually the other universe. Had to happen eventually. Stuff from the pokémon world has become realistic and part of this one, made sense that some of our world would become like that one.

Right, a big, important fight to tell you about. The most significant event so far.

We were at base. Another wave had just happened. Nothing seemed to have happened, so we were rushing outside to see if anything was happening there. I noticed as we ran that my shoulder felt stiff, and the shard area had got bigger. It was now slightly curved, shinier, and harder.
'T, you know we were doing well for keeping this a secret?'
'Yeah?'
'That's not really going to work anymore.'
I looked up. 'Ah.'
A huge flock of Spearow, and an enraged Onix. People were screaming and running around, panicking, and Onix was smashing up the cobbled street.
'Rattata, Butterfree, quickly! Get out here!'
'Charmander, Pichu, showtime!'
'Come on Happiny, there are people to protect!'
'Jonny, see if you can get everyone to safety!'
'On it!'
'Right, Rattata, ready for a flame wheel?'
'Ra!'
I threw him skywards, and he brought down a spearow with a well-aimed hit.
Pichu was launching a thundershock, but looked dizzy and toppled over, having struck two.
'Charmander, Metal claw!'
Charmander ran at Onix, claws shining, and jabbed as hard as he could. Onix let out a roar, and thrashed around, bringing down a lampost.
'Butterfree! Supersonic stringshot and stun spore go!'
'Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!'
Rag turned. 'Nice combination of moves.'
'I though only being able to remember four was silly. I doubt they can keep every move they can learn, but they're not stupid.'
Spearows were plummeting to the ground, and one narrowly missed Glaceon as he rushed out to help. A healthy spearow dived, but Ice beam sent him flying.
I looked to Ragnarok. 'You thinking what I'm thinking?'
'ICY WIND!!!'
Snover and Glaceon sent a double icy wind, covering the entire flock. five dodged, but the rest crashed to the floor, frozen solid. One of the remaining spearow fired a whirlwind in retaliation, and hit glaceon.
'Doesn't that force a retreat? Like that's going to work on a Pokémon without a...oh.'
Glaceon had gone red, and zapped into my bag. I pulled out on of my supposedly empty Pokéballs, to see it's button glowing. I tapped it, making the ball grow to normal size, and pointed it outwards. Glaceon came out, shaking his head free of the dizzying motion of the whirlwind.
'So....THAT'S where you decided to hide when we were camping? And how you got to the Eden project? You must trust me SO much!'
I hugged him, but he shrugged me off and glared at the remaining birds.
'I own Glaceon! Whoop!'
'Victory dance later! Fight now!' Rag was organizing Charmander and Snover's assault on Onix. Jonny was running back to us having made sure everyone got safely further up the street.
'Good Point. Rattata, Hyper fang, Butterfree Confusion, Glaceon Ice beam!'
Three birds fell, and Pichu got the last two with another thundershock, waddling over to the last and actually giving him a defiant kick and blowing a raspberry before running off to Rag.
I just had time to see Onix's tail sweep across Rag, Charmander, and Snover, sending them flying, before and reached me and hurled me into the air, causing me to land on a rooftop nearby. Rattata climbed up to me, and, winded and bruised, I saw Rag stumbling to his feet and backing away, as Snover sent another Razor leaf at Onix. Onix launched Rockslide. Everyone managed to dodge, except Happiny, who merely held out a tiny paw. The rock heading her stopped on contact, and she laughed. Then she used copycat. Onix's own move crashed onto him, and he roared as Jonny threw a Pokéball. Onix was caught, and Happiny went round offering everybody healing egg. It is a strange thing to have your giant butterfly deliver a piece of magical, pocket made egg that cures your bruises to you while you stand on a rooftop overlooking a partly demolished street. Welcome to my life. Then I saw the people from up the road all staring at us, and muttering. I realized Glaceon had joined me. A giant rock snake had just been seemingly vanushed by a boy with an egg monster, having fought a boy with a thundermouse, a dinosaur with a flaming tail, and a tiny walking mountain. Spearow littered the trashed road, and I was standing on a rooftop with a blue dog at my side, a purple mouse on my shoulder, and a giant butterfly hovering just behind me.
'Ah. The number of people that can see Pokémon may have gone up in the last couple of waves.'
'Ya think?'
This took some explaining.

Smarter than the average Rat!

This morning I found Rattata playing my Leafgreen. He'd chosen Charmander as his starter, and caught five Rattata. He just beat Misty! That is one highly intelligent mouse!

A new beginning!

Sorry, no cheesy title today, too nervous. It's my first day at Uni. Rattata and Butterfree are with me, and so, weirdly, is Glaceon. I'm honoured he's taken to me so well, and I'm glad I could help protect eevee, but now he follows me everywhere. The concept of 'A blue dog might attract attention in acrowded place' seems to be lost on him. Ah well, here goes nothing!

The garden of Eden-project! Part 2

Hello! Sorry, I will AT LAST catch you up on the other part of the adventure at the Eden project.

So there we were, surrounded by weepinbell, unable to use proper fire attacks, glaceon weakened by the heat, and the chance that people might discover us at any time. It didn't look good.

Dodging a spray of acid, I looked around, thinking fast. I saw Rattata snarling up at them. He couldn't get close enough to attack without being in danger of acid wounds.
The weepinbell that charmander had hit was smoking, reeling backwards from the blow.
Glaceon howled softly, and looked to me, as if waiting.
'You're ok to fight?'
'cee!'
'and you want me to...'
'cee!'
'Alright then. Glaceon! Ice Beam!'
A blue beam, thinner than the one he used on the thugs, shot towards a weepinbell, forming a thickish layer of ice over it's mouth. It began to sink, flapping it's leaves trying to stay in the air. But it's mouth was now blocked.
'Rattata! Quick attack!'
He shot forwards, but the other bells were taking aim. Glancing at them, Rattata dodged off the path into the bark and chipping-strewn undergrowth. I saw him jab his nose downwards, but couldn't see why, until he burst back out, a large bit of impaled on his fangs, completely obscuring his face. He charged forwards, but missed. It was blocking his eyesight.
'to your left! Now forwards! Right, left, go!'
The bark was rapidly disintegrating, bit he got the hit in.
'charm, pichu!'
'pichu, pichu, piiiiiichu! Pichu, pichu, piiiiiiiiiiiichu!'
Everyone turned to look at pichu, as he began to march up and down, trip over his tail, and hold his paws together in front of him as his cheeks glowed, while smiling up at everyone. Then he grabbed a leaf and a piece of bark, sat down, and tried to balance the leaf on the vertical bark. When that fell down a few times, he put the leaf on the ground and hammered it with the bark, which broke. He began to cry, loudly, and animatedly.
Taking the chance, our pokémon made their moves.
After that the battle didn't last long. One weepinbell got too close to pichu, and was rewarded a hefty jab in the eye, which sent it reeling towards glaceon, who, too hot, fell on it. Charmander flame tailed another, and Rattata leapt inside the final bell, and, safe from harming the other plants, used flame wheel. Yup. In it's mouth. Ouch.

After that, we shifted them off the path into the foliage, and ran off before anyone found us near all the noise and commotion.
Getting back towards metapod, Ragnarok tapped me on the shoulder. 'Looks like one more poké came through.' A pidgeotto flew above us, looking around, as if scared. It saw metapod and sped towards it. Metapod began to flash rapidly, becoming more shiny and solid looking after each.
'Pod. Pod. Pod pod pod podpodpodpodpodpodpodpodpodpodpodpod. Poooooooooood!
Crunch!
'Huh. I guess it DID learn harden.'
Pidgeotto crashed to the floor, and Metapod glowed again, this time completely white, and grow wings.
'freeeeeeee!'
'well..............well done butterfree'
'butter, butterfree!'
So, that was about it. Rag asked me if I'd worked out how he got there, and my guess that Kirlia did it was right. He went home, I met up with my parents, introduced them to butterfree, and the rest of the holiday happened without incident.
Since then, back home, the four of us have had a couple of incidents with shard waves, but nothing special. A few level ups, I'll post some stats at some point.

There, done at last, back in the present.

Just a quick note, I'm starting Uni, so I'll have less time to chat with you lovely people. Don too. Details to follow. Bye for now!

The garden of Eden-project! part 1

Hey, sorry, I will at last catch you up on what happened on holiday.

So, a couple of days before the last post (Sorry, everything from holidays a bit out of order, I only did that one because I needed to say about telling my parents) we went to the Eden project. I highly recommend a trip to everyone, it's one of the most beautiful places ever! and so much fun!

Sorry, not here to advertise holiday destinations, I'll get on with the recap:

Well, Rattata, Caterpie and me were deciding which Biome to go to first (Mum and Dad, still a bit weird around the Pokémon, were wandering around separately, but we were going to meet up a bit later.) Caterpie was on my shoulder, and Rattata was darting around amongst the plants. Nobody really seemed to notice them, apart from one little girl, who pointed at Rattata as he shot out from under a bush and said 'Look! Mummy, that mouse's purple!' but her mum just sighed 'Of course it is dear.' and dragged her away looking tired.

Halfway through the tropical rainforest biome, my shoulder started tingling, and Rattata stopped abruptly, nose to the sky, looking around.
I put down my rucksack and opened it, retrieving my DS. Leaving it open, I stood up, flipping open the console. I pressed it's extra button, and it transformed into the DSDex.
'Uurgh, am I going to have ANY normal days now I've got this stupid shard?'

'Hey, we had several between creepy future visit and you leaving.'
I spun round. Ragnarok was walking towards me, grinning broadly, throwing and catching a pokéball in one hand and fishing one out of his pocket with the other.

'I.....! You?...! What! How?'

'I don't want to ruin the surprise. Kirlia said there was going to be another shard wave burst thing, and we wanted to know if Glaceon was with you, so I came to help. Don and Jonny are back at base.'
'Thanks. Glaceon? Nope, isn't he there?'
'Haven't seen him since you left. Thought he might have snuck along.'
'Hasn't been with me.'
Then three things happened. Caterpie leapt off my shoulder, fixing itself to a branch with string shot, and surrounding itself as it began to glow.
Rag released Charmander and Pichu, who looked around them in awe.
Glaceon staggered out from behind a tree, panting.
'Caterpie! Now?'
'Poooooooooooooood'
'Ha, Glaceon! Are you sure he wasn't with you.'
'I think I'd have noticed in the three days of holiday so far if a blue dog was following me.'
'Hmm, must've hitched a ride with me and...how I came.'
Glaceon was not enjoying the tropical climate. Now, I'm no fan of intense heat, but I can cope with the Biome. Being an ice type, Glaceon wasn't happy. Why did he come?
After some water, he was able to walk better and looked a bit happier. Being near a fork in the path, where it looped round and brought us back, we decided to leave metapod where he'd set up and pick him up on the way back.

A little way round the loop, a crowd of people came into view. We slowed down to let them get ahead, just as my shoulder started to glow. I braced myself as a wave of energy shot from the shard. Charmander sent a smokescreen across the path behind us to dissuade people from following us for a while, and Ragnarok caught my DSDex as it fell from my shaking hand.

'Phew, is it over? What's changed? what's come through?'
'Don't know. This thing says we're up to 4% though.'

'Weeeeeeeeep. pinbell weeep.'

'Ah.'

Three weepinbell were staring at us. They detached themselves from the tree they were on, it looked like they had been bell shaped flowers on it, and sprung to life when more pokémon universe came through.

'Not a problem! Charmander, Emb-'
'NO!'
'Huh?'
'We are surrounded by rainforest?'
'Oh, yeah. Time to try out our special move then. Flame tail!'
'Wow!'
Charmander jumped up, and, spinning suddenly, slammed a weepinbell in the face with his tail's flame. It recoiled, smoking, and shot acid at us. Diving to the side, I saw the others closing in. This wasn't going to be easy.

A warm reception to frosty information!

Hola! I am currently on holiday, and this has been my first chance to post, but an important event has happened that needs telling. Mum and Dad know. A few days after our horrific trip, I'm packing for holiday, and something occurs to me. What on EARTH am I going to do about Rattata and Caterpie? Oh, and glaceon made it clear he was coming too. Not sure why, he didn't go with Ragnarok to scout camp a few days ago, he seems to be trusting Don and Jonny with protection of the Eevee's in his absence, and is very attached to me. I'm honoured, really.
So, I told them everything. Well, not everything, like a mysterious letter from a stranger from another world who sent a shard from a Pokémon deity into my shoulder to help prevent a cataclysm of universal proportions, but the general 'Pokémon are now real, but the transition is causing problems which me and my friends help sort out, oh, and have you met the magical rat, caterpillar and dog that I've befriended' bit. After the standard shock, sitting down suddenly, staring at the pokémon thing, they were very interested, and after I'd taught the squint to see through the illusion (half the time, glaceon was just a normal dog, except to me) they seemed better about it. It's still very weird for them, and I don't think they'll be used to it anytime soon, but they've accepted it. I think I'll head off for now, but I had to write about this. I'll tell you about the Eden project later!

Bye for now!

A-Poké-lypse now! part 2

'Pichu!'
Ragnarok ran forwards, as if to tackle the shadowy Dusclops, shot straight through, and skidded to a stop.
'Urgh, that felt weird.'
Seeing the Dusclops advancing, he ran back through it, wincing, and scooped up Pichu, stumbling, but dodging the shadow ball that slammed into the pavement past his foot. 'Aaargh!' Pichu, in fright had let loose a small burst of electricity.
Dusclops floated towards us, shadow balls on each claw.
'Rattata, Bite!'
'Charmander, Ember!'
'Which of our moves is good?'
'Try Pursuit, it's Dark, so it should be effective.'
'Ok, Hitmonchan, Pursuit!'
Our three pokémon advanced, and I held up my DSDex to scan the Dusclops. It's silhouette appeared on the screen, but every single stat was '?????' It's name was listed as '??scl?p?'.
The screens changed, and the top one showed a healthbar named '??SCL?P?', and the bottom screen showed three, called 'Rattata', 'Charmander', and 'Hitmonchan'.
'Aha! Video game readings of mysterious origin people! I always wondered how these would work.'
Everyone kept flicking their eyes between the battle and the bars. Rattata had thrown himself at the shadowy creature, fangs bared, and been cast aside with ease. A well timed shadow ball blocked the ember, and flaming, caught Hitmonchan as he thrust a fist forwards.
The second shadow ball hit Charmander squarely in the chest. All three were on the ground, wincing and grazed. We looked at their healthbars. They were all in the red. The shadow's was still full.
'Leggit?'
'I would, yeah.'
With the other two returned to their Pokéballs, I scooped up Rattata and we fled. a building to our right was hit by blue energy, and repaired itself at super speed, before un-building itself and vanishing completely.

Rounding a corner, we saw future Don, racing past a triathlete battling hard with a man in a dark hood. He skidded to a stop by-no, surely not!
A pokémon, floating a few feet off the ground, holding up a building with psychic energy, and projecting a large forcefield around the area.
'Mewtwo! How you holding up?'
'I shall survive. I always survive. Evacuate the area, I do not know how long I-Aargh- can support my barrier. They will be through soon! How are the other areas?'
His arms shook a little, and Don, giving him a worried pat on the shoulder, set off up the road, calling back 'Groudon's doing what he can, but time keeps looping where he is, so his work keeps being reset. Kyogre' got a pretty calm area, but the Regi outposts are reporting chaos at an increasing level. I'm off to get the beasts.'

We exchanged incredulous looks as he carried on down the road, and just stood, mouthing 'Groudon? Regis? Beasts? Kyogre?'
'How many Legendaries do we know?' I whispered excitedly.
'You will-aargh!- grow to know many, and when the call comes to help fight the destruction of worlds-Aaah- we shall all join the cause without hesitation.'
Mewtwo revolved in the air, and looked at us all. Then he gasped and the building he was supporting slipped forwards a few inches.
'Can we help?'
'This building...must not fall. If too many tremors or large impacts...hit the ground-Aaargh!- then the third shall sense the disturbance, and join the fight. Two are bad enough, if he becomes involved-'
'Right, we'll do what we can.'
We all went to try and help hold up the building, but it kept sliding. Happiny, standing on Jonny's head, gave it a huge push, and it began to straighten. Kirlia lent it's psychic power to holding it up.
'Caterpie! String shot!'
Caterpie started to fill the cracks in the foundations with sticky goo, and the then tie sticking out bits of brickwork to others.
'Ember!'
Charmander welded metal together, and Hitmonchan pounded any falling rubble to dust. It was done.
'I thank you. Now my full attention may go on preventing the descent.'
'Uh, you're welcome.'
'I know that this was meant to be nothing more than a vision, and that you were angry to see yourselves, but I at least, am glad you were here. Now run, I shall try to sheild you enough to leave.'
We did as we were told. Kirlia was frantically trying to take us back, but at a cry from above, it looked up and paled. I looked for what had scared it. Ah.
The moon. It was falling. Three Dragonite, Moltres, a flock of Togetic, Lugia, and hundreds, thousands of Pidgey, pidgeotto, pidgeot, hoothoot, noctowl, starly, staravia, staraptor, taillow, and swellow were all desperately trying to hold it back, but it was falling, and heading straight for us.
As it's shadow fell over us, and huge swirling shapes of blue and pink began to take form in the sky, a man soared by overhead, black cape billowing out behind him, blond hair bright despite the closing darkness, riding a black metagross. Laughing, he flew on, and Mewtwo shot past us, calling out 'He knows! He comes, from his world, to rain havoc down on us all! We have failed!'
He gestured for us to go left, and yelled 'Only she can help you now! Quickly!'

Future me came into sight, glaring at the laughing man. I saw him hold out his arm, and a small purple streak leap from it, right at the man.

As we went left, we passed a woman sitting slumped against the wall, weeping, hugging a zigzagoon. It's eyes were closed, and it didn't seem to be breathing. It was bleeding too.
Coming out of the sidestreet, we saw a young boy, a camper, and his sentret disappear into sparks of light as they jumped up from a wall. We passed a row of graves, too recent to even have stones set for them, some only half dug. Future Don went past, this time with his Hitmonchan, fighting a swarm of shadowy figures.

We reached a courtyard, where I could hear a bell, ringing hard. There wasn't a bell tower. There was a group of people, supporting injured pokémon, clutching injuries of their own, and collapsing onto the cobbles, too weak to move. I saw a small, green, fairy like creature, dancing and making a ringing noise. Celebi turned to us, just as future me and Don backed into the courtyard. The laughing man followed, confident. His Metagross seemed to have lost, he was walking in, but the shadow creatures had us out numbered. 'Face it!' he cried, opening his arms wide, waving at the world around us. 'You have failed! They come, and you are all doomed. I shall escape to the other world, and make it my own! The shrapnel left when this is over will enable me to recreate this realm in the other one, and become it's master!'
The blue and pink shapes above solidified, and future me's right arm began to change. it turned white, and his hand became blockier, with big claws, as the shoulder disc grew, it's gem glowing.
Pointing his new claws upwards, he spoke to Rag and Don. 'Watch out down here. I've got to try and stop them before they appear fully. I'll get pinky, can you watch keep everyone safe?'
'We've got it covered.'
'Just don't get yourself killed.'
Future Jonny arrived, and seeing what was about to happen, nodded to his Blissey, who looked exhausted. 'Can you give him a boost?'
She went to future me, and threw him upwards, his claws glowing.
'Watch out!'
Future Don's warning came too late. The blue shape, learning forward, coming into focus, had launched a meteor shower. It struck future Ragnarok, burying him in an explosion of firey energy rocks. As the smoke cleared, I could hear future Don and Jonny giving cries of dismay, and the mysterious man cackled hysterically.
He was gone. There was nothing but a crater and dust.

Celebi came over to us, and we were all too shocked and distraught to be surprised or impressed at being so close to the time travelling wonder. All I managed was 'Please, get us the hell out of here.'

Everything went white, and we were back at the old shop, in the present, where everything was fine. We all sank down to sit on the floor, trancelike. It was a while before I noticed that Pichu was jumping up and down by one of the shelves at the back, straining for something. I got up to help him. All there was on that shelf were the spare Pokéballs. Pichu had seen them from across the room. I handed him one, puzzled, and he waddled over to Ragnarok, who seemed to be having a hard time taking anything in. Pichu, tugged hard at his shirt, hugged him, and put the ball in his hand. Pichu then poked it's button. It flipped open, and swallowed him up. it flashed a few times, then made it's faint 'dnng' noise. It then popped open, spitting Pichu back out. He smiled at Rag, and happily started hugging him again. Rag looked down.
'Oh. look. I've caught a pichu.'
he managed a faint smile.

A-Poké-lypse now! part 1

The little girl had reached the end the entrance to a sidestreet. A blissey emerged, and I heard someone yell 'Softboiled! Quickly!'. It was Jonny. He didn't look much older, but much the worse for wear. We couldn't be too far in the future, but clearly the world had been in chaos for a while.
Blissey started to glow, and as the egg in it's pouch shone white, Azurill's cries became less painful. Older Jonny handed Blissey a six-pack of big bottles of lemonade, and then began frantically spraying her with pink bottles (Hyper potions?). 'Now the others! Help everyone you can!'
Blissey began chugging lemonade for all she was worth, restoring her health as quickly as she gave it away, and the light from her egg intensified, sending healing beams out, back down the side road, to Azurill, and off down the street, striking other Pokémon that were emerging, backing towards us, or being helped along by desperate looking people. I recognized a ruin maniac, several bug catchers, hex maniacs, a rich boy, a group of aroma ladies, sobbing young trainers, a few people from college and school, all manner of Pokémon, and, flying above the crowd, providing cover from falling debris and blasts shooting by over head, a mighty, roaring Charizard, being ridden by slightly older Ragnarok. He shouted something down to a Garchomp leading the group up the road. It nodded and ran off, I have no idea where.

The shadow over us lifted, restoring a half-light to our surroundings, as there was a tremendous crashing sound, and the city shook. I turned to see a building turn to dust as something huge skidded down the street towards us. A huge green claw slid to a stop a little behind us, and as the dust settled, I saw the rest of the huge green dragon, lying still on the ground, scarred and roaring. Rayquaza's eyes weren't even swirls. They were closed. His roar gave way to a whining groan, and it's attempt to lift it's head ended as it collapsed. We just looked on, in shock, but I heard future Ragnarok swear loudly, and fluidly.'T! Tempest! Are you there? Don't tell me you actually went up there on him! T!!!'

There was a yell from above, and a speeding bolt of some kind plummeted towards us. More dust and rubble flew into the air, as a crater exploded in the street.
'Oh you idiot! Jumping off? What did you think would happen! You'd float gently back to earth? When Spoinks fly!'
I saw an older version of me get up, dust himself off, and examine a tattered remnant of sleeve, where there was now nothing but a hardened, rounded, white shoulder, with a small pink gem in it. 'Damn, this was my favourite shirt. Don't worry, I'm ok...mostly. We each have to make use of what we have available. In my case, a shoulder that can survive almost anything.'
He saw us. 'Oh God, I forgot, this is when we turn up. For pity's sake, get out of here you lot! Fat lot of help we'll be if you get killed! Go on, move!'
He turned back to future Rag 'How's Don doing?'
'Don't know, last I heard....'
As they carried on in urgent whispers, I looked at Kirlia. 'They...they can see us. We're covered in dust from this terrible place, and I just warned us not to get killed. Are you sure we're just projections LOOKING at the future?'
'It..it is possible..that interference at this end..from Dialga and Palkia...has caused us to appear here fully.'
We waited, on tenterhooks, as Kirlia closed it's eyes and concentrated. 'It is impossible to shut down the Future Sight from this location. Temporal and Spacial distortion have pulled us fully in.'
At this point we were forced to run, because a bolt of pink energy hit the building next to us, and it began to dissolve into little specks of pink light. A man nearby pulled out a Pokéball, and said 'Go! Scizor!' before being struck by a beam of blue light, and a strange roar was heard. Scizor leapt from his ball, only to be dragged back inside, and for the man to tuck his ball away again. He then brought it out once more, summoned Scizor, and watched as it escaped and returned to it's ball. This continued in a loop, and we were forced to leave him, and flee up a side road. Pichu, squirming in Rag's hands, leapt free and tore off, desperate to escape the chaos. We chased after, and found ourselves in what had been Market square. Pichu had stopped short, confronted by a Pokémon. It should have been a dusclops, but it was completely black, with wisps of black energy wafting from it. It had a shadow ball in it's claw, and it was closing in on Pichu, who gave out a cry of fear, and fell backwards, sparks flying from it's cheeks in terror.

Never met a Kirlia like you before!

Ok, let me first catch you up on major events since camping:

Rattata is now level 10, and has learned bite.
Charmander is now level 9, and learned ember during a rather intense training battle between him and Rattata.
Caterpie is now level 8, but decided, not too become a Metapod just yet. (I know, it sacrificed 'Harden' for the ability to move, shocking :P) I thought we'd have trouble bonding, with us attacking him and everything (I've always wondered about that) but it turns out some lemonade can do wonders for a friendship.
Happiny is level 4, knows pound and charm, and is very happy.
Don is still a little weird with his Hitmonchan, but he's more comfortable with him, slowly. I gave him my pocket pokédex book, to help catch him up a bit.

I think that's it, the shard hasn't done anything since last time, my DSDex hasn't called any emergency's, so that's that.
Oh! Ragnarok thinks he knows exactly where it came from. As you'll see from the address bar of this blog, I've always suspected where it came from, but Rag thought he knew exactly. He put 'The rise of Darkrai' on, and fastforwarded it to about 4 minutes in. Dialga was firing draco meteor? at Palkia, and Rag slowed it down to frame by frame to show me. 'Ok, you see here... the attack's just hit, and a big crack spreads across the gem. You see this bit in the middle where it's just white? That's a gap, a hole...it clears up quick enough, but here..hang on, frame too far..here, can you see a tiny pink line just past his head? I reckon that's it breaking off and falling into our dimension.'
'So, you're explaining an alien crystal shard embedded in my shoulder that sets of a string of events that could destroy two worlds that apparently we have to deal with, on a bit of shading from a cartoon movie?'
'..Yes?'
'Eh, works for me, makes about as much sense as the rest of this..'

So, to business. Everyone had met at the old shop, and we were generally just taking advantage of having somewhere to hang out with our pokémon, and people we could talk to about them. Don was teaching Hitmonchan Karate (His specialty, and as the punching pokémon, Hitmonchan isn't so good with the footwork, so it was a good idea.)
Jonny was playing ruby and watching Happiny play with Charmander and my Pokémon, and me and Dan were studying Rise of Darkrai and trawling the web for any information on what the shard might do. This was not going well.

'So, quick question.' said Don, looking over at us. 'Why do we have to save the world? This doesn't seem so bad, so what if our worlds merge? Anyone have any idea what would actually happen?'

There was a small flash of white light in the middle of the room, and another piece of paper fell to the floor. I grabbed it, falling of my chair in haste as I scanned it. 'It's from Moira! Everyone, listen! She says that she's sending us 'Tingle's Partner' and that they 'were destined to fill the void of the boy with one fate.' whoever that is. Apparently he never existed in this universe, and this pokémon she's sending took his place, but was 'Tingle's' partner.

'Seriously, who's this Tingle she keeps mentioning?'

'I don't know, unless she means...but know, how could she-'

There was a slight gust of wind, and I was cut of by a cry of 'Liiiiiiiaaaaaaa!' a silhouette of light appeared where the paper had. it looked somewhat like a ballerina, but with a small, spiky lump sticking out of one side. It solidified into a Kirlia, with a rather windswept looking Pichu clinging on to it's skirt for dear life. It let go, fell over, giggled, and got it's feet, looking around at this new place. Kirlia turned to me, and an aura of psychic energy glowed faintly around it as it stared at me. As our eyes locked, I could understand it.

'Moira sent me to show you...to show you..why you are needed...why the shard was sent....to you....and why...the collision...must be handled correctly.'

'Please tell me you all heard that?'
Everyone had. I saw the Pichu stumble abit. Clearly hitchiking a teleport is a rough ride.
'You ok little guy?'
'I'll check on him. Anyone got a berry?'
I tossed Ragnarok an orange as he knelt down by the Pichu, and then addressed Kirlia.
'Ok, why DID Moira stick this thing in my shoulder?'
'I must...show you...though...my heart flutters at the thought of seeing it again.'
'Seeing what?'
'All...will be revealed.'
Kirlia closed it's eyes, and floated a few inches into the air. Wind whipped around us again, and rings of psychic energy emanated from Kirlia, as Jonny pulled Happiny closer to him, and Hitmonchan nervously punched the air. Rattata climbed to my shoulder, Caterpie frantically gripped my shoe, and Charmander pulled at Rag's trouser leg, before hugging it tightly, as the old shop changed around us, become ruins, the ceiling gone, half the walls collapsed, giving way to a murky orange sky, with swirls of purple and black, as smoke columns rose around us, and cries filled the air. There were a couple of tombstones set up in a corner of the room, already too damaged to be readable, and cries began to fill the air. We were too stunned to move for a moment, but I ran outside, followed swiftly by the others.

Cambridge was in chaos, Kings college had almost completely gone, nothing more than rubble. Part of the chapel remained, with one and a half of it's pointed towers remaining. the whole one now had a definite blue edge too it, and the half destroyed one was almost pink. The remains of a bridge between the two, which didn't exist in our time, hung in the gap in between sticking out from the blue tower. There were large fires in the distance, and a twisted, bent over lampost nearby was covered in ice. There was a thick cloud of black, swirling fog in the middle of the road, and bolts of blue, pink, and black energy arched through the air. A small girl ran past us, sobbing, cradling a small blue lump, which was shivering. As she ran on, in a swimsuit with a rubber tube around her waist, yelling 'Blissey! Blissey! I want to go home!' I was too heartbroken to speak. Somehow, Jonny found words.

'Was that Azurill...bleeding? I didn't know they could even do that...I....'
I could feel a tear sliding down my face as I watched her run on, looking for help.
'We cannot assist...we are merely visions...' thought Kirlia, sounding choked.
The sky opened, and a mighty roar filled the air, as a huge shadow engulfed the street.
'Point taken.' Don said, in a small voice. 'Can we go home now?'

It's a trap!

I may have to rein in Rattata's nightly explorations. Dad's started putting out those traps that have a sliding door. It's not like it would kill him, and he'd have a hard time fitting in one, but it would raise awkward questions.

Camping with a Caterpie! part 2

'Uh, Dad, can we stop at the next services? I, uh, need a drink.'
3 miles later, and I tell Dad I'll catch him up as he goes to get coffee. I turn round and peer into the back. 'Glaceon! What?!'
'Glay! Glacey!'
'Yeah, I got nothing of that. Unless, was that danger?'
'Cee!'
'Huh. What?'
Glaceon stuck his head in my bag, and pulled out my DS, put it on the back seat, and pointed at the flashing red light with a paw.
'Oh! Thanks! Good thing one of us is paying attention..'

I flipped it open. On the top screen were two spheres, with edges touching. There were three small circles above the left one, blue, pink, and black. On the bottom screen, 'Dimensional Collision:' was flashing in large letters, and underneath it, a number kept flickering between 1 and 2%.

'Is this what it was flashing about? It's getting worse?'
'Cee!'
'We're probably going to have to look into this...'
'Ceeeee.......'
'Oh dear. Well, You look cramped and I really do need a drink, plus I promised Rattata he could come out. Lets all stretch our legs.'

I showed Rattata the screens, but he seemed more confused by it that Glaceon had been. I was worried they'd attract attention, but most people seemed to think nothing of them. I swear a couple of people couldn't see them at all. One lady asked if she could stroke my 'adorable dog' and Glaceon allowed a little scratch under his chin before getting bored and wandering off.
'Aw, he's lovely. What's he called?'
'uuuh...I'd better get after him before he wanders too far'
I turned back to her 'Um, what sort of dog would you guess he is?'
'Oh, I have no idea about names, he's just a lovely looking dog. He's got that gorgeous fur that has an almost blue tinge to it.'
'Right. I mean, yes, yes he does. Anyway, uh, bye!'

I caught up with Glaceon, and we went off to get drinks. It took a while to explain that he couldn't come in, and he looked like he was about to ice me, but eventually he went and sat by a bush. Rattata hid in my pocket. I got us all some drinks, and we headed back to the car. Seeing Dad returning, I looked desperately for a place for Glaceon to hide. 'Please, find somewhere a bit better to hide. If Dad finds out about all of you, I don't know what'll happen, but we need to keep you a secret for as long as possible. You have to trust me like I trust you. You've brought so much fun to our lives, we just want to keep you safe.'

We locked eyes for a few seconds, and then he looked over my shoulder, and started rooting around by my bag. I saw Dad going round to his side of the car, and hurriedly sat properly in my seat.

'Everything ok?'
'Yep, got my drink, ready to go.'
I heard a faint 'dmm' sort of noise, and chanced a look over my shoulder. Glaceon was gone. Wherever he was hiding, it was good.

So we got to the camp, set up, and everything was fine until night descended. My pocket started vibrating wildly, and a friend of mine ran from her tent going 'ewwewwewweww!'
'What's wrong?'
'That is the biggest caterpillar I have ever seen!'
The girl she was sharing with poked her head in. 'What caterpillar?'

'Let me see'
It looked like a normal caterpillar to me, until I squinted, and it flickered and became much larger, with a pink Y shaped antenna.
'Ah, hello Caterpie. I'll take care of this guy.'
'I can deal with it if like-'
'No! Seriously, I'll take him...'
I scooped him up and ran to a patch of woods where there were no tents. This spooked him.
Stringshot does not taste nice. Makes it hard to move too.
'Ratta..bleugh..tack!'
He leapt, tackling Caterpie to the ground, and dodging another stream of string.
'Great! Again!'
'Ra!'
Caterpie lay on it's side, wriggling weakly. 'Peeeeeee'
'Awesome job! Now, if you'd be so kind...'
A few fang slashes and I was free. I felt in my bag, and brought out a Pokéball.
'Allyoop!'
it struck Caterpie on the head, and opened, in he shot, a blur of red light, and it rocked, blinking.
Then it stopped.
'Oh yeah! Caterpie's mine! Nice job buddy!'
I gave him some lemonade to make sure he was in perfect health, then let Caterpie out, and gave it some too. Then I got out the DSDex. It had been shaking for a while now, but I'd been too busy. It was flashing 'Ripple detected', and showed a dot on the lower screen, which had what appeared to be a large map on it, with a large sort of smudge further off.
It calmed down once I'd opened it, and seemed happier. I scanned my pokémon.
'Oh cool, our training's done some good Rattata, you're level 8 now, and Caterpie here's a male level 6.

I have to leave it there for now. Sorry, all of this happened ages ago now, but I've been slow writing it. I was going to add some minor stuff that happened at camp afterwards, but it's not important, at least at the moment.

See you later!

Camping with a Caterpie! part 1

Sorry, best I could come up with. :)
So, a couple of things to sort out first.
1: Don
Don came round, and showed us his find. It WAS a pokéball. Inside, was a Hitmonchan. Level 12. My DSDex showed it's blue exp bar half full.
'It should be level 25.' Ragnarok said, puzzled.
'And there should have been a choice of him or Hitmonlee.' I added.
'First there are half the pokémon at the 'Dojo' to choose from, then he's at half his normal level. Ragnarok, do think it's possible that the whole situation only half merged, as it were?'
'Possibly. Makes sense. But it's not like I'm an expert on inter dimensional collisions you know.'
'Ha. No, it does make sense. There couldn't really be half a level 25 Hitmonchan, so he arrived complete but at half the level. Anyhoo, Don, you beat Sensei, so looks like you've got yourself a new friend. Have fun, he knows Comet punch, Revenge, Agility and Pursuit.'

'Uh, right, thanks. I don't remember most of those. Have they introduced new moves since red and blue or something?'
Rag stared. 'Oh, this is going to go well.'

So, Don is the fourth member of our little group. Four teenagers and their pokémon, the only defense against two universes crashing into each other, letting havoc loose upon both worlds.

2. The piece of paper.
While we were waiting for Don to come round with Hitmonchan, I looked at the paper Rag handed me. It was a letter. It said:

Dear Tempest,
I'm sorry about all this. If it wasn't for me, none of this would be happening, to you guys at least. You see, I have the ability to 'Walk the Dimensions' and I've become a sort of guardian of the worlds. You see, there are many worlds, an almost infinite number, and one of them is the world of pok
émon. Yes, there is a universe where everything you have read and watched is real. Most stories or games are really just people picking up traces of other universes. I am the one that made the shard find you. I'm sorry to put such a burden on you, but I needed to know it was in safe hands, and not only are you experienced enough with pokémon that I think you can cope, but in other worlds, you are heroes. In every universe that needs protectors, you and your friends rise to the challenge, and do whatever it takes to keep everyone safe. I wish Tingle was still here in this universe, he would have met me, and this would all be much easier, but I know that you will do your best to protect the shard. You must, because I'm sorry to say, but when your world and the world of pokémon finally become one, it will mean the end of both. I will try and contact you soon. I'm sorry.
Moira.

So, that's that. Right, on with the camping trip.
Months ago, I had planned to go camping with a group I'm part of, the Woodcraft folk
, and it seemed pointless to cancel at this point. After getting everyone to promise they'd look after the Eevees, I prepared to go. I assume that when I walked out of the old shop is when my DS started blinking it's power light, but I can't say for certain, because I didn't notice. Someone did though.

So, me and Dad packed up the car and off we went.
Rattata had agreed to hide in his Pokéball until we got to a service station, in order to hide better.

As we go round a sharp bend, and our camping stuff shifts in the back, I hear a small 'ee!'

'What was that?' asked Dad.

Looking over at the back, I see one of our sleeping bags shifting behind Dad's chair. From under it, a small blue head peered up at me. 'Uh....just a sleeping bag shifting dad, nothing to worry about.'

What on EARTH was Glaceon doing here?

The shard wakes.

Sorry, no cheesy title this time. This is a serious event, and it needs a serious title.

There still aren't many pokémon about, there are our partner pokémon, Glaceon and siblings, and the odd earth creature that looks different if you squint. Aswell as the bird I told you about last time, since I last posted I've seen a carp in a pond that flickered between normal and magicarp, and a bee that became a lot bigger when squinted at, looking distinctly like a beedrill.

Oh, I mention 'siblingS'. Not just just the one Eevee. And I should probably tell you about where we hang out in order to hide all the strange happenings. Let me explain:

I think I'd better start with where we hang out, because it's not just us anymore.

We have started (Since about a week before post 1) hanging out in an abandoned shop down a deserted side street in the middle of Cambridge. I don't know what made us go there, but one day we just felt drawn to that street while we were in town. It was empty, it used to sell videos and film cameras, stuff like that, but didn't upgrade with the rest of the world, and began to fail, until it went bust.

It was mostly empty, the windows were covered in dust, and a lot of the shop's name had faded, but the door swung open when Ragnarok pushed it, almost as if it had been waiting for us. Inside, there was a wobbly table, a few old swivel chairs from behind the counter, the counter itself, and stacks of old video tapes. Why hadn't they been taken away when the shop shut?
So we tidied the place up, put a video box under the tables short leg, got rid of some cobwebs, generally made it habitable, and started hanging out there. It seemed to make so much sense, we didn't know why. Still don't really, although it worked out well, sort of. That's where we were when the shard arrived in our dimension, that's where we had our battle, and that's where Eevee tried to seek shelter from the bullies.

Right, I promised to explain the siblings remark. Quite simple really. Glaceon has more than one sister. He has three. And four brothers. All Eevees, around level 10. Turns out Glaceon decided we were alright, got the Eevee we met to lead him to our abandoned shop, and then proceeded to move everyone into one of the rooms above it. Seems he now thinks of us as helpful protection. We have promised to do everything we can to keep his family safe.

Well there we go. On with post development.
About a week ago, (Sorry it's taken me a while to write this.) me and Ragnarok had met up again, although to be honest, we'd been meeting up pretty much every day since this whole thing started. Today though, Jonny had joined us, with the egg I gave to him to look after. We'd promised a proper look at our Pokémon, and we'd finally all managed to meet up together.

So there we were, watching Rattata and Charmander playing around, and Jonny had just asked if we could have a battle so he could watch, when my shoulder started tingling. It was such a weird feeling, I fell to my knees, clutching hard at my shoulder.

'What's wrong? You look like you're having a heart attack!'
'Thhhaaaattttt's your whooole LELELELEFT aaaaaarm!'
'Oh, yeah. Shard?'
Whaaaaat dooo yooou thiiiinnnnnk?'

A pinky purple light was coming out of my right sleeve, and I was shaking wildly.
Just as Jonny was coming over to check on me, a wave of energy erupted from my shoulder, and expanded to envelope the whole room, and then head through the walls, expanding rapidly, until it faded from sight, all in a couple of seconds. I got up, dizzy, head throbbing, and looked around. Rattata and Charmander looked happy, but a little afraid, and they seemed to glow for a few seconds, before that too faded. Jonny's egg was shaking violently, and I could smell a slight burning. I looked down. We'd decided to have lunch here. The strawberries were gone, but there were 9 apricots left. Or there had been.

The plastic tub they'd been in was now a puddle, and where they had been, there were steaming red and white spheres. Very small, steaming, metal balls. With buttons on the front. 9 Pokéballs.

'Wow.' I stared at them, shocked. I was joined by the others, and after they'd checked I was ok (Strangely, apart from the headache, I felt fine again. The moment seemed to have passed as soon as the wave of energy left me.) we divided them up. We each took two, and left the other three in a cupboard we'd fixed, so they were there if any of us needed them. Then three things happened at once. There was a small white flash in the air, and a piece of paper fell to the ground, my phone started ringing, and Jonny's egg started to glow.

Ragnarok picked up the paper, I answered my phone, and everyone turned to stare at the egg. I noticed it was a friend of mine, Don calling me, just as Rag said 'Ah, this might explain some stuff. Tempest, you should look at this. Do you know anyone named Tingle?'
'Huh? In a sec. Hey Don, What's up. Don't you have Karate now?'
'Hey T. Yeah, I do. That's why I'm calling. I was in the middle of a session, and I felt this weird sort of wave shoot through the room, and then as I floored Sensei, something appeared next to my bag. Nobody else seemed to notice it appear. It's been a few years since I played, but it looks like a Pokéball. Know anything?'
'Aaah. Maybe you should come round...'
We were interrupted by a yell from Jonny. His egg glowed even brighter, and hatched.
'Hap? Happiny! Happy happy happy!'
'What was that?'
'Yeah, uh, this will take a while. You'd better come round.'

Sorry this took so long to put up, I'll try and catch you up better in future.

A case of the Blues!

We followed the men down a side street, and heard Eevee cry out as they closed in on it.
'Charmander and Rattata are injured from our battle! They won't be able to help much!' Called Ragnarok as we hurtled after them.
'Oh yeah, I brought this'
I pulled an orange out of my pocket and threw it over my shoulder to him as I got one out for Rattata. 'Bought them earlier. Figured it would help, Oran, Orange, it's our worlds equivalent..'
'Good point'
I held out a wedge of orange and Rattata, running alongside me, leapt, grabbed it with his teeth, and munched happily away as we continued our pursuit. I could hear Charmander enjoying some behind me. Rattata looked better, and most of his grazes had faded. I fed him another bit as we rounded a corner, and saw the two men had cornered Eevee against the end of an alley.

'Right you freaky little mutt, lets finish what we started shall we?'

'Stop! Rattata! FLAME WHEEL!'

'Whoah? Aaah! What the hell is that? Ooow!'

'Charmander! Hit the other one with your tail!'

'Is that a...dinosaur? Ow!'

The first man was knocked down by a direct hit from flame wheel, and as he rolled around, desperately trying to put out his shirt, the second man was felled by a well aimed whack at an ankle by Charmander. His trouser leg caught fire as he went down, and we rushed over to the Eevee to see how bad the damage was. It was shivering, and looked pretty scuffed up. I fed it an orange wedge as Charmander brought his tail round in front of him, and held the tip out to Eevee, who after nervously accepting the fruit, huddled close to the flame, and seemed to recover a little. I turned to the men, furious. 'What the hell do you think you're doing?!'

'The mongrel can talk! It called us evil, then it threw sand in our faces, then it called us evil again as it ran off!'

'Who are you two? Why have you got monsters with you? Wait, Charmander? Isn't that a .........pokémon? My cousin kept mentioning some thing called a Charmander a few years ago...'

'Yes. Yes it is. So is my Rattata, and if you'd paid attention you'd have heard this poor little creature saying 'Eevee' not evil. That's it's name. That's how Pokémon speak, you ignorant dolts! As for the sand, sounds like a sand attack to me, you probably scared it. Guard them for a sec, Rattata.'
'Rata!'
I got out my DS and pointed at the Eevee. 'Now, let's see how you're doing..'
'Huh?' Ragnarok looked up at me from kneeling by Eevee.
'Oh right!' I was going to show you, but then this happened. I got my DS out again last night, and it sort of scanned itself, then Rattata, and now look.'
All the normal buttons were there- The D-pad, the four circles, Start and Select. But now there were two power buttons. The normal one, and one with a tiny picture of a Pokéball on it, next to the normal one, making them the doubles of Start and Select on the other side. I pressed the new one, and the console turned red. The left side curved, grew a black edge, and the top half gained a smaller semicircle, that lined up with an indent in the lower half. It had become a Sinnoh Pokédex. (Interestingly, the DS didn't have a Sinnoh game in it when it transformed, and it has the most up to date information, from Heartgold and Soulsilver. I guess this was the easiest shape for it to become? This Pokédex IS designed to resemble the DS afterall..)

It had both power buttons, and both my HeartGold and Rag's Firered in their slots, but in every other way it was a genuine Pokédex.
'That. Is cool.'
'I know! Anyway, let's see what it says. Ok, level 10, The orange is helping, back up to 3/4 health, She's a she, Bashful nature. Not doing too badly, she should be up to full strength again soon.
I turned back to the men, as I heard a squeak of fury and Rattata landed on my shoulder, grabbing tight not to fall off.

'Don't mess with my Rat! Now, if you tell ANYONE about all this-'
'Anyone? Dude, we're telling everyone! We'll be rich for turning these monsters over to scientists. Who knows what could be achieved! An army of firey Dinosaurs! Rodents that can sneak into the enemy camp and destroy them from the inside!'
One turned to run, and Rattata leapt. He shot forward with incredible speed, and tripped the man up with his tail, causing him to fall on his face with a crunching sound. As Rattata jumped up and down on the man, my DSDex beeped, still being active:

Quick Attack:
The user lunges at the foe at a speed that makes it almost invisible. It is sure to strike first.

'You learned Quick Attack. Cool!'
There was a cry of pain from the other man as Charmander decided to make sure he didn't run
either, by slashing his leg, making him fall to the ground.'
'You were great Rattata, thanks.'
'Thanks Charmander. Oh. Tempest, we have company.....'

I saw a pokémon hurrying down the alley towards us.
'Wow! A Glaceon!'
I glanced at my DSDex. 'Hmm. Level 12. Oooh, knows Ice beam though. Male. Oh, this explains things. He's the brother of this Eevee.'

Glaceon reached us, a flicked his head at Eevee.
'Glay!'
Eevee climbed on his back, and conversed with him. Glaceon looked at us, gave a a small nod, leaning forwards, acknowledging our help with her recovery.'
'Look after her Glaceon, be careful.'
Another nod, and he turned to go, only to see the two thugs.
'What! That ones even weirder! It's freakin' blue!
Glaceon turned back to me.

'Hey, we're not keen on them either. Glaceon! Ice Beam!'
Two cries of terror were cut short as they were sealed inside a huge chunk of Ice. Glaceon flicked an ear at us, and fled.

We walked up to the bluey silhouettes inside the tiny iceburg, which was sending wafts of cold air out in all directions.

'NOW who's blue!'
'Oh, Rag, too cheesy, too cheesy.'
We both laughed, and wandered off with our Pokémon. I stared up at the sky, and saw a bird fly by over head. When it was directly above us, it seemed to flicker, and for a second, looked just like a starly. The world is changing. Pokémon are here, and I'm not sure how long we can stop people from noticing.

Rattled by a battle!

There you go, cheesy title with exclamation point and point and everything. Starting to feel like a proper pokemon story, isn't it? Try living it.....

Me and Ragnarok met up the next day, we had a lot to talk about.

'So, how did taking Charmander home go?'
'I managed to keep him hidden from the family by putting him in his pokéball, but once he was in my room I had to get him out to look at, he's so cool! We had to keep quiet though- but look he knows a trick! Charmander! Go!'

He threw the pokéball and released his new friend from another dimension. Charmander looked round, his mouth slightly open in a smile, and waved at me before running up to Ragnarok.

'Charmander, what do we have to be at home?'

Charmander closed his mouth and put a tiny claw to his lips. 'chhhhhhhhh' he whispered. Then giggled, hugged Ragnarok's leg, and ran over to Rattata, who was already out, and started playing.

'The cartoon never actually advises how to deal with the fact that his tail is on FIRE.'

Patting a smouldering trouser leg, he looked over at me. 'How was Rattata?'

'Snuck in inside my bag, confined to my room, may have gone downstairs at night and eaten all our strawberries. We certainly ran out suddenly.'

'How's the egg?'

'Nothing's happening at the moment. I gave it to Jonny to look after for now.'

'Wow. You told him everything? How'd he take it?'

'Fellow Pokéfan like him? Delighted of course'

'Ha, cool. What do we do now?'

We looked at our pokémon. Charmander was spinning like a top, and Rattata was jumping over his tail as it swung round.

'Want a battle?'

'Oh yeah!'

We called our partners over and took our places on opposite sides of the room.

'Shame we don't have someone to do the whole 'Both trainers will use one pokémon each' thing'

'T, we only HAVE one each'

'Still...'

'Go! Charmander!'
'Do your best Rattata!'
'Char!'
'Ra! Rattata!
'Scratch!'
'Use Tackle Rattata!'

Rattata shot forwards, almost dodging the attack and getting a galncing blow on the cheek as he rammed into Charmander, who staggered backwards.

'Now Tail Whip!'
'Scratch again!'

Charmander's claws scored a direct hit this time, and Rattata let out a squeak as he leapt back.

'Tail whip again!'

Rattata ran around behind his friend and struck his back with the swirl of his tail. Charmander's arms pinwheeled as he lost his balance, but managed to turn to face the mouse.

'Growl!'
'FLAME WHEEL!'

Charmander gritted his teeth and let out a (Rather cute) scary, but gasped as Rattata took off, a disk of fire bursting into being around him. He streaked across the room, and hit Charmander squarely in the chest. Charmander responded with another scratch, so Rattata leapt back again.

'Rattata knows Flame Wheel? Cool. Ha, that means your normal type knows a fire move before my fire type!'

'Haha, yeah. TACKLE!'
'Scratch again!'

Rattata ducked under Charmander's arm to dodge, but his sped sent him tackling into a small dog that had scrambled in through the door from outside. Seeing us, and reeling from Rattata's blow, it let out a panicked 'Eeeeeeeee!' and ran outside again. We heard two voices yell 'There it is!'
'Get it!'

Our Pokémon stopped battling, and me and Rag stared at each other.

'Was that?'
'An Eevee?'

We rushed outside, and began to pursue the men.

This is getting long, so I'll do a new one to explain what happened next. Bye for now!

A mysterious shard, and a purple mouse.

Hey, I'm Tempest, and I've decided to start this blog to record my life because, well, something strange happened yesterday, and I have a feeling life is going get pretty noteworthy from now on, and I need a place to gather all my thoughts. Two universes have collided, and nothing will ever be the same again. So, this is what yesterday was like:

Me and a friend of mine, Ragnarok (a nickname picked up from some mythology (Norse?) meant to be some big destroyer of worlds anyway, and he liked the sound of it.) were hanging out, and having a very nerdy afternoon of Nintendo. To be precise, Pokémon. We both grew up with it, and never really grew out of it. If you hate Pokémon, I suggest you stop reading now. Anyway, I'm on a Gap Year, (Yep, a 19 year-old that still likes Pokémon, dealt with it) and he's on that bit of Study leave at the end when nobody actually has an exam, so we had plenty of free time.

There we are, me playing Heartgold, Rag redoing Firered for about the hundredth time. He'd just chosen his starter, Charmander, and was being lectured by Professor Oak. I'd finished the plot of Heartgold, and was now just training a Rattata I'd caught because I've always liked Rattata. What's not to love about a cute little purple mouse? I'd bred one with an Arcanine, and now the Rattata I'd just hatched had inherited Flame wheel. As soon as I found out it could, I had to try it! It was level 5, and I was deciding what TM's to give it. I'll admit, I DO have an Action Replay for things like having all the TM's, but I don't go in for the whole 'Raise a bunch of legendaries to level 100 and crush all who oppose me' thing. I tend to only use it for getting items, and occasionally encountering certain pokémon.

'I hate how Pokémon can only four moves in these games. I swear half the ones on the cartoon know at least five. How can it be that easy to forget a move? Like water gun, or ember. If you make a Pokémon forget one of those to learn, say, Flamethrower or Hydro pump. They are essentially larger versions of the other moves. I find it highly unlikely that if it learns how to make a huge jet of fire, it forgets how to make a small one.'

Ragnarok smiled. 'Yeah, but if a Pokémon knows Hydro Pump, does it really need Water Gun?'

'More PP and accuracy, but god point. You know what I mean though.'

'It is annoying, yeah.'

At this point his battery ran out, so I said he could use my DS in a sec. We slotted the cartridge in while I was saving my game. All I had in my party was Rattata, and an egg. I was going to do more, but Rag wanted to see how much progress he'd lost (No chargers were around).

As the save completed, the world seemed to wobble. Bands of rippling purple light shot across us, and the room seemed to spin. There was a sort of pulse in the air in front of us, and a small tear opened up, full of a dark energy, with streaks of colour darting across it. In the second or two it was open, we heard a roar, and saw a flash of a white claw before a shard of pink light shot out. As the tear closed, it seemed to emit a wave of ferocious power, which caught my DS first. As I felt a stabbing pain in my shoulder, my DS glowed, picking up a strange power. The wave of energy intensified, and exploded outwards, throwing me and Ragnarok back against the wall.

A minute or so later I groggily managed to sit up, in time to see both cartridges in my DS emit a glow, and spit out little balls of light, which grew, and faded to become two red and white balls, and a fairly large egg.
'What?!' Ragnarok had woken up too. I examined the bit of my right shoulder that was stinging. The shard had embedded itself in my skin, and become a slightly raised, rock hard, shiny bruise.
'I should probably get this looked at..'
'Eww. Wierd. Oh wow, Look!'
I returned my attention to the egg and, astonishingly, Pokéballs. The balls suddenly sprang open and released twin streams of red light. One solidified into a small purple mouse, the other into a little red dinosaur with a flaming tail. They looked around, confused, and a little scared, then saw us, seemed to recognize us, and trotted over.
'Ratta...ta?!'
'Ch-Charmander?!'
Hearing their names, they leapt on us, happy.
'Ratta! Ra! Rattata!'
'Char! Charmander!'
We embraced our pokémon, and turned to each other.
'This is..so Cool! What happened? That thing in your shoulder?'
'I don't know! But what the hell do we do now?'

I smiled down at Rattata, still in shock. This was going to be fun. Difficult, but fun.
