First of all, I'm sorry there's been so little posting from me for a while, I've been very busy with non dimensional collapse related things.
Saturday was odd. Cool, but odd. I got a call from Rag, who was at our base watching the eevees. When me, Doom, and Maelstrom arrived, he asked to borrow the DSDex, and slotted one of his games in.
'So what's this about?'
'Well, I figured that if we're going to have to fight that that big apocalyptic battle, we may as well be as tough as we can be.'
'Uh-huh.....'
'I'm activating the Rare Candies code on my AR. I'm going to try and do that thing we did with the evolutionary stones, so we can level everyone up.'
'Oooooook. Isn't that risky though? In the cartoon they made a Caterpie become huge, and it started destroying a city. And we didn't even do the stones on purpose!.'
'Oh. Yeah. But these are coming from the game, they should be fine.'
Doom crossed her arms. 'Well Bulbasaur isn't taking any. He's awesome, and we plan to level up in the usual way.'
I looked round the base, and remembered almost drowning in a sea of stones. 'Well, whatever they do, shouldn't we try it outside? We don't want a repeat of last time.'
'Good point.'
We moved out into the street, and Rag took aim with the DSDex. There was a flash of purple light, and everyone winced, expecting a shower of sweets to rain down on us.
Nothing. I opened my eyes, looking around. Out in the street there was a small pile of blue-wrappered candies, about 20.
Rag was frowning, first at the small pile and then at the DSDex's screen. 'Well, that's not right, that's what I had in the game anyway...'

We were distracted by a shimmering, ripping sound to our right. At the end of the street, a new rift had torn open, and I could glimpse a bright, flat looking, cartoony forest within it.
This view was blotted out by a writhing mass of purple which started to pour out of the rift and surge down the street towards us.
'Uhhhhhhh.......what's that?' Maelstrom asked, looking concerned.
'Rattatas' I groaned, watching them advance. On my shoulder, MY Rattata was growling, tensed. He had a fierce rivalry with all the 'early in the game' rodenty monsters, and other Rattatas most of all.
'It looks like they're coming for the candy..' Doom muttered.
'We can't take them on one-to-one, there's too many.'
I thought hard. There had to be a way....
'Got it! There's this genius I found out about online! This guy Sam, he came up with a whole new way of battling. It's like a tower defense game! We'll need to line the sides of the road.'
Me and Ragnarok took one side, Doom and Maelstrom took the other. Working round the lamp posts and cafe tables, There were three spaces near me that my Pokémon could stand. I sent out Rattata, Butterfree, and Dratini. I saw that Rag had sent out Charmeleon, and Bulbasaur and Squirtle were ready on the other side.
'Come on VHS, let's show them who they're dealing with!'
I'm not sure if I've mentioned this, but we've named ourselves VHS. Vigilante (Because we aren't working with the police) Heroes (Because we're saving two worlds) Squad (Because of the Squirtle Squad).
The rattata charged forwards, and the battle was upon us. Butterfree shot out waves of confusion, and Dratini was timidly sending out lots of small twisters. Rattata was repeatedly jabbing forwards, slamming into his targets.
Charmeleon was sending out a constant stream of fire, Bulbasaur was sending out hundreds of Razor Leaves, and Squirtle was using Whirlpool to mop up any foes that had got past all that.
Some of the rats started to fight back, and I saw Dratini wince, a scuff mark appearing on his tail. I healed him with a potion and he glared at the Rattatas. As the last of them came rushing through the tear in reality, he swept them up in a twister. Squirtle, Charmeleon and Bulbasaur added there attacks to it, and we watched as it knocked out all the Rattatas. As Butterfree was wafting the twister towards the tear, a Rattata, looking tired and battered but not yet unconsious, leapt from the top of the twister, and dived for the pavement. He crashed into my Rattata and raced off.
The shard in my shoulder tingled, and the tear closed up.
'Phew.' Rag smiled 'I'm glad that one closed, I'm not sure we could have coped if it stayed active.'
I was more concerned with the two Rattatas racing away from us. The wild one had just reached the pile of candies.
'Uh, you know how we were wondering whether they would have the effect from the games or from the show?'
'Yeah...'
'We're about to find out....'
The Rattata glowed, and started to swell, growing until he towered over the surrounding buildings.
'Sooooooo, cartoon.'
'yep.'
'Damn.'
Yeah, so that was awkward to explain. If you want to learn more about the genius tower defense creator that is Sam, check him out here: http://samdangames.blogspot.co.uk/
